Mission

The University of Tennessee’s Tree Improvement Program (UT-TIP) mission is to improve the productivity and health of Tennessee forested lands in a changing climate, through the planting of high quality, locally adapted, and genetically improved seedlings by Tennessee landowners. Our research and development efforts reflect forest ecosystem values held by Tennesseans across the vast diversity of the geographic areas within the State. Forest ecosystem uses in Tennessee include wood production, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, and environmental contributions by healthy forests to water and atmospheric quality.
