Since 1966, the UT-TIP and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Forestry have worked together under a series of Memorandums of Understanding to ensure transfer of research results and genetic materials. Seed from orchards developed or managed by UT-TIP are transferred to the East Tennessee State Nursery to produce locally adapted and in some cases, genetically improved, seedlings for general reforestation, species enrichment, or restoration of Tennessee forested lands. Scions from UT-TIP selected trees are grafted and incorporated into TDF seed orchards.
